About the Journal

"Human Rights" Journal, the scientific publication of the Romanian Institute for Human Rights (RIHR), issued since December 1991, aims to publish studies, research and articles in the field of human rights or which have an impact on fundamental rights and freedoms; articles presenting and interpreting national, regional or international regulations in the field of human rights; analyses of case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. The journal is instrumental in fulfilling the RIHR mandate to ensure a better knowledge by public bodies, non-governmental organisations and Romanian citizens of human rights and the way they are guaranteed at national, European and international level.

Aside from scientific research done by the Institute, the journal publishes studies, research or analyses done by experts and representatives of academia that tackle fundamental human rights issues, focusing on the relationship between rights and principles, rules and standards of international institutions and mechanisms, or various terminological, conceptual and methodological aspects from this field of research.

Since 2019, after reconsidering the editorial policy of the Institute, the "Human Rights" Journal is a bi-annual publication (published in June and December).
